Clinic Cats

Theo (aka Red Pants, aka Naughty Pants)
Theo came to our clinic as a 3-month-old kitten in October of 2004. Dr. Fleming was away from the clinic at the time, recuperating from a bike accident sustained in Theodore Wirth Park (hence Theo's first name). By the time Dr. Fleming got back to the clinic, Theo's charm and playfulness had established his place in the hearts of the clinic staff, and Dr. Fleming could only bow to the inevitable. Theo keeps us entertained despite his naughty streak and his penchant for wrestling dogs and pestering Princess. He is confined primarily to the treatment area and doctors' office because he is still in training (lifelong) and doesn't completely understand that he needs to mind his manners with clients and their pets. In addition, he has a tendency to open up food bags if he escapes to the front unnoticed. His two favorite activities are eating and sleeping, so he is not exactly a clinic poster child for weight management. On the weekends, he gets to go home with Dr. Adams , Dr. Fleming or another staff member-----it keeps him occupied and entertained and he always brings life and stimulation to the homes he visits.
Princess
Princess joined our hospital in January, 2006. She is an 19-year-old member of a royal family and refuses to take any guff from Theo. She spends her days being groomed, sleeping, and demanding her royal treats. Her beauty and careful, stately walk are hallmarks of her status. (There is a picture of her 19th birthday party at the bottom of her collage).
In Memoriam: Penelope
Maynard and Penelope were adopted by the clinic in August of 1998 when the daughter of their owner developed severe allergies to the cats. After all attempts to place two 12 year old kitties failed and euthanasia was being contemplated, they joined our hospital staff. Penelope was always the queen of the clinic and made sure everyone knew it. She succeeded with everyone except Theo, the rambunctious kitten, who had no respect for her title. She retired from the clinic to live with Dr. Adams, who truly appreciated her royalty. In January of 2007, Queen Penelope, at age 20 years and 6 months, left us to join her brother Maynard and to live with him hereafter in all our hearts.
In Memoriam: Maynard
If Penelope was the queen, Maynard was the grand pooh-bah of the clinic. He loved his role of ambassador and was usually perched on the front desk where he could enjoy the attention lavished on him by all his loyal subjects and patrons (picture Winston Churchill as a cat). He was a big guy and his stomach would swing back and forth as he would waddle on by. He was sent pictures, cards and flowers by his faithful fans. He finally succumbed to cancer and we had to let him go in June of 2004. He was one of a kind and we were lucky to have known him.![]() |
